Installing your BSB USA wheel spacers or adapters correctly is critical to both safety and performance.
Every BSB USA part is CNC-machined from U.S.-sourced billet aluminum for precision fitment and reliability.
Follow these steps carefully — and remember: hand tools only. Never use impact or power tools.
Safety Information
-
Use hand tools only — never air or power tools.
-
Verify all parts fit flush and seat correctly before torquing.
-
All torqueing must be performed with a calibrated torque wrench.
-
Never exceed 110 ft-lb of torque on any lug nut.
-
If your vehicle manufacturer’s torque specification is below 110 ft-lb, follow the factory spec.
Tools & Materials
-
Torque wrench (capable of at least 110 ft-lb)
-
Correct-size socket and breaker bar or ratchet
-
Wire brush or hub cleaning tool
-
Medium-strength thread locker (optional)
-
Jack and jack stands or a lift
Tip: Proper installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with wheel mounting and torque procedures.
Step 1 – Clean the Hub
Purpose: Ensure the spacer seats perfectly flush and centered.
-
Park the vehicle on level ground, engage the parking brake, and slightly loosen the lug nuts by hand.
-
Lift and support the vehicle with jack stands.
-
Remove the wheel.
-
Thoroughly clean the hub and rotor surface using a wire brush or sandpaper to remove rust, corrosion, or debris.
A clean, smooth hub surface ensures perfect centering and prevents vibration.
Step 2 – Install the Spacer or Adapter
Purpose: Mount the spacer securely to the vehicle hub.
-
Slide the spacer or adapter onto the vehicle’s factory studs.
-
Confirm it seats completely flush against the hub.
-
Verify that factory studs do not protrude past the spacer’s mounting face.
-
If they do, either trim them slightly or replace them with shorter, high-strength studs.
-
Alternatively, confirm your wheel has deep lug pockets that can accommodate the extra length.
Never allow factory studs to make contact with the back of the wheel.
-
Step 3 – Secure the Spacer or Adapter
Purpose: Torque evenly for a precise, balanced fit.
-
Thread the provided open-ended lug nuts onto the vehicle’s factory studs by hand.
-
Tighten gradually in a star pattern.
-
Torque each lug nut to your vehicle manufacturer’s specification, not to exceed 110 ft-lb.
-
If your vehicle’s spec is lower, follow that spec.
-
If it’s higher, use 110 ft-lb as the maximum safe torque.
-
-
Recheck that the spacer is seated flush and evenly torqued.
Never use an impact wrench or power tool. Doing so can over-torque or damage studs.
Step 4 – Mount the Wheel
Purpose: Install the wheel correctly to the spacer’s studs.
-
Place the wheel onto the spacer’s pressed-in studs.
-
Confirm the wheel seats flat against the spacer face — with no gaps.
-
Install your original or OEM lug nuts by hand.
-
Torque each lug nut in a star pattern using the same rule:
Follow the factory spec if it’s under 110 ft-lb, otherwise torque to 110 ft-lb maximum. -
Spin the wheel by hand before lowering the vehicle to confirm there’s no rubbing or interference.
Step 5 – Final Check & Retorque
Purpose: Verify safety and long-term performance.
-
Double-check that all spacers and wheels are flush and properly torqued.
-
Lower the vehicle and perform a short, low-speed test drive.
-
After driving 25–50 miles, remove each wheel and re-torque the spacer-to-hub nuts.
-
Re-torque the wheel lug nuts to spec.
-
Recheck periodically, especially after wheel service or if vibration is noticed.
After the first drive, recheck clearances with the suspension fully loaded.
Torque & Thread Engagement Requirements
| Fastener Type | Minimum Full Turns | Torque Specification |
|---|---|---|
| 12×1.5 mm | 6.5 turns | Vehicle spec, max 110 ft-lb |
| 12×1.25 mm | 8 turns | Vehicle spec, max 110 ft-lb |
| 14×1.5 mm | 7.5 turns | Vehicle spec, max 110 ft-lb |
| 14×2 mm | 6 turns | Vehicle spec, max 110 ft-lb |
| ½-20 in | 8 turns | Vehicle spec, max 110 ft-lb |
| 9/16-18 in | 7.5 turns | Vehicle spec, max 110 ft-lb |
Always verify thread pitch before installation. Mismatched thread pitch will cause damage and is unsafe.
